Over the last few years the fashion in house extensions has been to create an open-plan Kitchen / Dining / Family Room which is more suitable for the function of modern family living, this was the brief for this project.
We extended the Kitchen to a luxurious size which opened up into a dining area and family space, L shape in plan. The key with this design was to maximise the amount of light we could bring into the part of the Kitchen within the existing house. We used a combination of roof lights and an impressive light well to not only flood the space / existing kitchen area with light, but also increase its volume giving it the 'wow' factor when entering the new rooms.
The extension is again sympathetic to the existing house and blends in well with the surrounding estate, however inside the modern design breaks from tradition and provides an open-plan family space more suitable for modern living.
